Attended a wedding and funeral

Email #99
Area: Motupa
Companion: Elder Paul

Excerpts from Dad's email:

Yeah it was a good week and I told mom about church and stuff with all the attendance that we had it was really nice to see all those people come to church. My comp is a funny guy, but he tends to just leave stuff laying around like dishes and clothes and stuff. But its what will prepare me for kids so its a good thing somehow. We went to a wedding, I told mom and we also went to a funeral for a member, he had to do some other stuff. Yeah being a district leader I have a little more work, district meeting and call in reports and stat stuff and other meetings that we'll probably have in the next month with the pres. Well I gotta go to the area we got some plans with some members, but I took pics at a waterfall today so next week I'll send them to you and also for heritage day we went to an activity I'll send pics of that too.

Loving my companions

Email #98
Area: Motupa
Companion: Elder Paul

Excerpts from Dad's email:

Yeah another African companion, haha I know how to be with them and I get along great with all of them. Yeah we get along and not too many issues or complaints. He is from Malawi and 24 or so and comes from a poor family kinda sad his story like now he said he is homeless at home and the members really took care of him at home. I don't really know the whole story, but its just a little that I know about him. I still am the solo driver and have been for most of my mission, I am so tired of driving haha, but yeah it will be weird to be on the other side of the car and the road but it will be nice. Jaela has definitely changed and it is so crazy of how big she has gotten and all the things that she can do now it just blows my mind away. I told mom I don't have much time because we are going to play sports and stuff so I hope that all goes well with work and planning for my arrival and everything. I love you paps!!

Became a new district leader

Email #97
Area: Motupa
Companion: Elder Paul

Excerpts from Mom's email:

The week was good a lot have changes have happened. I'm still in Motupa and will finish here. I was called to be district leader my last transfer and now my new comp is from Malawi his name is Elder Paul. He is pretty cool and we get along okay, he's not the first African or tough comp not saying he is a hard comp I have only been with him for a day. I know all the elders I go home with so that will be nice to sit with them and everything. Yeah its crazy how time is going and how much has changed and what's to come. I am just scared, but excited at the same time haha. I don't know what to think about all of it. It's getting hot here, right now its cold but during the day its pretty hot and has rained a few times here and there so that makes it a little cooler during the day. Julia's sister came to church and Pinky came to church as well so that was a good turn out. Solomon didn't come he had to go to work. There was a senior couple from Canada that served here. There is so much that I don't want to leave and it kills me I have to leave it for a time, but it seems like this time is so much harder. leaving home was hard but not this hard, there is so much I will miss. At the same time I am ready to get on with life and start another chapter. Mission has been a roller coaster and I have met so many great people I can't be more grateful. Changes have come, mistakes made, relationships built, trials overcome, challenges beat, spiritually grown, and so many friends and family. It will be almost impossible to say goodbye for a season, but it is what has to be done.

Excerpts from Dad's email:

It was a good week and it was Elder Kusi Poku last week, so we spent time with the people he wanted to say goodbye to. Things are good and I am now district leader so that's weird and I got a new comp from Malowi his name is Elder Paul. He is pretty cool, he is like my 5th or 6th African comp so its not hard to get along with them. I am not actually sure how many people got baptized, but I think its around 20 I have it recorded but I don't know at the top of my head. We got some lessons planned this week. Sounds like things are getting weird around there for when I get home. haha it feels unreal sometimes that its almost that time. I hope it doesn't snow that would really make things bad. I hope everything will go well with all the preparations.

Talking to investigators about the Godhead

Email #96
Area: Motupa
Companion: Elder Kosi-poku

Excerpts from Mom's email:

Wow so crazy you got the papers haha! I can't believe they have come, and its about the time. Yeah I didn't get anything so I am glad you sent it to me. Yeah it will be quite a journey home having to go through all that stuff it seems like so much, but I will just be happy when its all over and all my stuff arrives to SLC. Yeah I'm not too excited having to go to London, but its whatever and its good the layover isn't 10 hours again. The week was good and we saw Solomon and he is doing well he read all the restoration pamphlet and he thought God was a spirit. So we really focused on the Godhead and asked him to pray about all that. He works at Clicks, its like rite aid. so he can only see us on Sundays and sometimes he works on Sunday so church is hard, but he has come twice now so he shows progress. We saw another lady that came to church, she is the sister to the member Julia. Her name is Agnes. We taught about the Godhead with her as well and she says it all makes sense and she was saying she really likes church and that she will come this week. She didn't come yesterday because she had to do washing, she didn't get home till late Saturday so she had to do it Sunday. Things are picking up a little bit, but attendance at church is a little low. Hopefully it will pick back up again.

Excerpts from Dad's email:

So Julia is a member and we are teaching her sister Agnes and we saw her yesterday and taught her about the Godhead and she said it makes sense. She can't read English, but she understands when we speak to her. It's unfortunate because her and Julia didn't go to school. So reading and writing isn't there. Pinky came back last week and we met up at a shop in Motupa and she didn't tell us she was back so this week we are going to see her again. Haha yeah the pics were sweet, no the animals were at least 50 meters away so we were safe haha. It's good that everything is coming along slowly, but surely haha sounds a lot like our investigators and less actives. Like everything you can't push or rush. That's something I have learned is that with people you can't force, push, rush or anything of the sort. People have their own pace so that's where I have learned patience. I look back and I see some of the life lessons God has taught me and he has shown me in a way that I understand. I didn't realize at the time, but now things are coming to mind. I hope you have a good week and work will be ease up, well he won't weaken the storm, but He strengthens the person.

Love,
Elder Bryner
